A Short Bio

Eric Craft is a playwright currently based in Albuquerque, NM, while he pursues an MFA in Dramatic Writing at the University of New Mexico. He holds a BA in Theatre Studies from Montclair State University, where he focused on acting, directing, and eventually writing.

His first full-length script was the book and lyrics for his musical The Blank Page, which he first drafted in high school and revisited his senior year of college. In collaboration with two of his favorite artistic companions, he produced the musical a total of three times both in and out of undergrad, culminating in a full production the summer of of 2017.

​

While working as an after school educator at The Allegra School of Music and Arts in Hillsborough, NJ, he wrote numerous monologues, scenes, and plays for young actors from ages seven to seventeen. Some one-acts from this era include titles such as Finding the Root, Seasons Greetings, The Struggle Bus, and The Alive Poet's Society.

Other one-acts include The Edge of Infinity  (Chaotic Good Collective), Whoa There, Grandma  (Summit Playhouse's 2020 Bake-Off), Pizza the Cat (MAC One-Acts Festival), A Sprinkle of Grace (48th Annual Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival), The Spaces Between (SOOP to Nuts Short Play Festival), Moth, the Missionary (Maker's Ensemble Intimate Artists Night Series), and So You Bought a Fiddle Leaf Fig (Irvington Theater Arts Incubator Short Play Fest).

His full length play And Every Creeping Thing was selected by the New Jersey Play Lab for development in one of their residency programs in 2022. It received a workshop production with Alpha Arts Players at Sussex County Community College in the summer of 2023, and will receive a staged reading with Stone Church players in November 2024.

​

He is currently working on a romance novel that he's sure will see the light of day some day. He also has a love of video games, sour candy, and his cat Lulu.
